Romana Vrede and CLUB GEWALT under direction of Bram Jansen and Ryan Djojokarso, made a living artwork about and with Charlie Stevens.
Charlie Stevens is a 13 year old boy with autism and mental disability. He is non-verbal and is diagnosed as extremely weak. Charlie, a child of 13 but physically a boy of 17, not cute anymore, mentally a child of 2 that likes Bob de Bouwer. His rage outbursts are dangerous. The last time he got one was when he was in the back of his father’s bike. The police came immediately.
One of his supervisors got a concussion.
‘When I got the letter of the lawyer, it left me cold’, says Romana.
In this piece actress Romana Vrede discusses the love for her son and for his place in our society, together with the music-theater collective Club Gewalt.
